Woody Home Cinema
Nyari, Nairobi · 2025
A home cinema renovation in Nyari finished entirely in warm-toned timber. Vertical timber battens run floor-to-ceiling on all walls; the ceiling is a coffered timber grid with dark acoustic panels set into each bay. Seating is a combination of a dark navy leather sectional sofa and two red leather recliner chairs with ottomans. The bar counter sits at the rear of the room — a timber-clad unit with two bar stools, a circular black wall sconce and a backlit black disc panel above.
The Brief
Renovate an existing room in Nyari into a dedicated home cinema that uses timber as the dominant material to give the space warmth while maintaining acoustic performance.
Our Approach
Vertical timber battens were applied wall-to-wall, with the coffered timber ceiling grid continuing the material across the ceiling plane. Dark acoustic panels fill each coffer bay, combining acoustic treatment with the visual rhythm of the grid. The seating mix — navy sectional and red recliners — introduces colour contrast against the warm timber. The bar counter is positioned at the rear wall so it doesn't obstruct the screen sightlines. The flat-panel screen is wall-mounted at the front of the room, flush with the batten wall surface.
