YR Studio Architecture is a question of the right people around the right brief.
Founded in 2022 by Yusuf Rama Mbiyu, we develop architectural projects for different scales and demands, valuing the process and experimentation as a source for authentic and innovative practice.
Our aim is of bringing a new look to architectural projects through a contemporary architecture that presents the minimalist concept as the guiding axis of the projects. Over the years, we have developed a series of projects with emphasis on residential constructions, which seek to open a dialogue to match the architecture with the needs of our clients.
The firm aims to continue expanding and exploring new areas of architecture, and desires to contribute to Kenyan architecture while maintaining its own essence and pursues integration of architecture and nature, in order to produce timeless projects with well-defined concepts.

We believe that good, responsible design is only possible with significant contributions from different disciplines. This allows us to rapidly explore a wide range of solutions from many points of view. For every project we draw from a network of architects, interior designers, structural engineers, landscape specialists and contractors, thus working closely with specialist design teams throughout the process to deliver an integrated vision.
Each team is assembled around the specific demands of the brief — the right people for that site, that client, that scale. Just the right fit, every time.

Profile
Our work searches for a delicate balance between architecture as the act of disappearance, and creating characterful, responsive and experiential environments. We engage actively in the creation of contextually appropriate, sustainable design solutions — addressing the often contradictory interrelations between the city, architecture, landscape and the world of interiors.
Scale
We work across a broad range of projects in the public and private realm — from the intimate scale of a single room to complex developments. Regardless of scale, the commitment remains the same: exemplary planning, design and execution, guided by a clear concept from the outset.
Process
We begin each project with deep listening — in-depth conversations that identify specific goals and constraints. For each project, we craft a central vision that reconciles client needs with site-sensitive design, then engage trusted collaborators whose collective strengths carry that vision through to completion.
Sustainability
We believe in creating lasting architecture that incorporates environmentally and ethically responsible design. Scarcity — of materials, energy, time or budget — is not a limitation. It is a tool that drives innovation and smart solutions that resonate the complex problems from which they arise.
