Earth Tone
Milimani, Nakuru · 2025
A multi-room residential interior in Milimani, Nakuru, where each space is given its own identity while sharing a consistent palette of grey, warm brown and earth tones. The master bedroom is anchored by a rust-brown oxidised feature wall behind the bed, with a recessed backlit gold niche above the padded leather headboard. The living room centres on a long blush sectional sofa beneath a wall installation of green and white ceramic lotus plaques. The bathroom uses the same grey-brown marble on walls, floor and worktop.
The Brief
Design a full residential interior in Milimani, Nakuru, across multiple rooms — master bedroom, living areas, study, bathroom and bar — using an earth-tone palette of grey, warm brown, rust and blush, with each space having its own distinct character while feeling part of the same home.
Our Approach
The rust-brown oxidised tile feature wall in the master bedroom sets the most distinct material note in the scheme. The living room introduces the ceramic lotus wall art as the primary decorative element — a large-scale installation that recurs in two views of the space. A second living zone uses a yellow chevron shaggy rug and grey sofa to shift the palette toward warmer tones. The study uses a green timber-slatted feature wall as its main surface, contrasting with white walls. The open-plan bar area has a dark timber slatted ceiling and a chevron-panel bar unit. Throughout, the marble-tiled floors reflect light upward and hold the scheme together across its different zones.
